Prepare High-Resolution Images for Print

Understand resolution, physical dimensions, and export format before sending an image to a print provider.

Print quality depends on the number of available pixels, the intended physical size, and the printer’s requirements. A small web image may look fine on screen but show softness when printed large. Ask the print provider for its preferred dimensions, resolution, and file type.

How to approach it

Avoid enlarging a small image beyond what it can support. Keep text and line art crisp, include bleed only when requested, and inspect the final file at the expected print size. Save a master version so you can create alternate exports without repeatedly recompressing the same file.

Checks before you share

Keep an untouched source file, inspect the exported copy at full size, and confirm that the result suits its intended use. If the image contains private information, check the entire frame and its metadata before publishing.

Frequently asked question

Is DPI alone enough to judge quality?

No. Pixel dimensions and the intended print size matter as well.

For a practical next step, try the Image Resizer. You can also use the Image Compressor for a related image task.
