Make Text in a Screenshot Easier to Read
Improve screenshot readability with careful cropping, suitable scaling, and a clean export rather than aggressive filters.
Screenshots often contain small interface labels, code, or instructions that become difficult to read when placed in an article. Before editing, capture the interface at a useful scale and remove unrelated panels that distract from the point being explained.
How to approach it
Crop around the relevant section, preserve the original proportions, and avoid repeatedly resizing the image. If text is still too small, consider splitting one crowded screenshot into two focused images. Do not apply heavy sharpening that creates jagged letters or changes how a character appears.
Checks before you share
Keep an untouched source file, inspect the exported copy at full size, and confirm that the result suits its intended use. If the image contains private information, check the entire frame and its metadata before publishing.
Frequently asked question
Should I enlarge a tiny screenshot?
Enlarging can make it easier to display, but it cannot add detail absent from the source.
For a practical next step, try the Image Resizer. You can also use the Image Censor for a related image task.
